Progressive candidate Gustavo Petro has won Colombia’s presidential election and will head the first leftist government in the country’s history. In a country scarred by political violence and gaping inequality, what are the prospects for human rights, social justice and peace? And what challenges will the new government face?
Speakers:
- Mariela Kohon – Senior International Officer, TUC, advisor to the Colombian 2012-2016 peace negotiations and former director, Justice for Colombia
- Andrei Gómez-Suárez – Senior Research Fellow at the Centre of Religion, Reconciliation and Peace of the University of Winchester and cofounder of Colombian peacebuilding organisation Rodeemos el Diálogo.
- Chaired by Alborada contributing editor Rachael Boothroyd and Alborada co-editor Pablo Navarrete
