"This is a rare film about Venezuela, a country in extraordinary transition. Watch this film because it is honest and fair and respectful of those who want to be told the truth about an epic attempt, flaws and all, to claim back the humanity of ordinary people."
- John Pilger (Journalist, author and documentary filmmaker)
"A lively, well-researched documentary which pulls of that most difficult of tasks - an honest account of the achievements and the weaknesses of the Chavez government."
- Sue Branford (Journalist, former Latin American analyst for the BBC World Service)
"With this film, Pablo Navarrete demonstrates the potential of film in raising critical consciousness. He has produced a film that is simultaneously thoughtful and inspiring. It cuts away rhetoric and explores the challenges of 'socialism for the 21st century'. It reflects in an honest way on the messy and creative experiments in grass roots democracy in the barrios of Caracas. More please!"
- Hilary Wainwright (Research Director of the New Politics programme, Transnational Institute and co-editor of Red Pepper).
"Pablo Navarrete's film is a moving and vibrant account of social transformation that puts the people in the barrios centre stage"
- Caroline Lucas (Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales and Member of the UK Parliament for Brighton Pavilion)
"Inside the Revolution is an excellent contribution to our understanding of the Bolivarian Revolution. It takes us further back from where The Revolution Will Not Be Televised began and further forwards from where the world famous Irish documentary left off. Inside the Revolution allows the grass roots supporters of the revolution, its driving force, to speak and explain with their own worldview the complex process of the Bolivarian Revolution, focusing on the revolution's pluses but also underlining some of its weaknesses."
- Dr Francisco Dominguez (Head of the Centre for Brazilian and Latin American Studies, Middlesex University)
"Too much media coverage of Venezuela relies on stereotypes or one-sided distortions. This film avoids the cliches and lets the people speak for themselves. It is an inspiring and challenging look at the gains won and problems faced by the revolution in Venezuela. I highly recommend it."
- Jeremy Dear (General Secretary of Britain's National Union of Journalists)
"Inside the Revolution is a deep and honest examination of the pressing issues inside Venezuela. The film provides a platform for voices from the grassroots sectors in Venezuelan society -- the motor behind Chavez's Bolivarian Revolution. Navarrete's film is a masterpiece that weaves together little known historical, archival material with his own contemporary footage on the front lines of the Venezuelan revolution. With up to date analysis and one of a kind footage, this documentary is not to be missed."
- Chesa Boudin (Author of 'Gringo: A Coming of Age in Latin America' and instructor on Venezuelan Politics, Yale University)
"Inside the Revolution is an honest attempt to trace the historical trajectory of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela. It is a fluent and attractive film that places political debate with its historical context. It does so by giving space to the voices of ordinary Venezuelans as they attempt to make sense of the important changes that they are shaping and participating in. The film is an excellent introduction to a unique moment in Latin American history, and I highly recommend it."
- Dr Matthew Brown (Senior Lecturer in Latin American Studies and Director of the Centre for the Study of Colonial and Postcolonial Societies, University of Bristol)
"Inside the Revolution is a fascinating and honest portrait of a revolution in progress. With interviews and footage from the shanty-towns, this film delves far deeper than most documentaries and the result is a thought-provoking study of Hugo Chavez’s 21st socialism and a grass-roots revolution, which Navarrete shows is both flawed and inspiring. This film is an antidote to the distortions and half-truths of Fox News and should be seen by anyone interested in Venezuela’s future."
- Grace Livingstone (Former reporter for 'The Guardian' in Venezuela and author of 'America's Backyard: The United States and Latin America from the Monroe Doctrine to the War on Terror')
"Neo-liberalism has failed, Inside the Revolution is a detailed and vivid look at how communities in Venezuela are attempting to build an alternative. Think you know everything about Venezuela, well think again. This is the view from the barrios rather than the Presidential Palace, let alone the parts of Caracas where the wealthy live. Inside the Revolution provides a different perspective on the transformations occuring in a country which is never out of the news."
- Derek Wall (Former Principal Male Speaker for the Green Party of England and Wales and author of the 'Another Green World' blog)
"This useful documentary illustrates the historical importance of the revolutionary process underway in Venezuela. It captures the vibrancy of a people who have found their voice, whilst addressing the challenges of a complex reality full of contradictory interests."
- Dr Helen Yaffe (Teaching fellow in Latin American History, University College London, and author of 'Che Guevara: The Economics of Revolution')
"Inside the Revolution is a wonderfully direct take on ten years of the Chavez government. The context given to the Bolivarian Revolution is outstanding, as is Navarrete's idea of getting inside the revolution and letting the people speak for themselves. Importantly, the film does not shy away from the problems faced in Venezuela, leaving the viewer with a crucial understanding of the choices facing Venezuelans. In the context of a global propaganda campaign against democracy in Venezuela, this film is essential viewing."
- Dr Lee Salter (Senior Lecturer in Journalism and Media Studies; and researcher on media coverage of Venezuela, University of the West of England)

"I really enjoyed the film. It felt very refreshing to be presented with that information, since some of the things that were mentioned in the film really rang true: specifically the point about how Chavez has been demonised in the first world. I didn't realise until last night the extent to which that particular media bias had penetrated my consciousness - it actually is quite insidious, no?! So it was nice to get an alternative perspective, and particularly to be able to see how ordinary Venezuelans experience the situation.
I was impressed that the film didn't go too far the other way, in fact going to some considerable effort not to deify Chavez. I was very inspired by the 'popular' nature of the political reform, and I think it's very important that this is how the movement should be rooted. It is a reality of the human condition that any change which is to be rapid in nature must be spearheaded, and indeed personified, in a single person: a leader. However, that makes any such process of change incredibly fragile, both in terms of its longevity and integrity. Hopefully what is going on in Venezuela can transcend the personality of Chavez and therefore maintain its momentum, but only time will tell I guess."
