Why Donate?

We believe that there is need for an independent website in English that both produces original content and showcases news and analysis related to Latin America not adequately covered by the mainstream media.

Since launching Alborada in July 2009 we have seen interest in the site grow significantly.

During this period we have: showcased a number of articles covering Latin America related issues as such politics, media and culture; produced original analysis and translated Spanish-language pieces on issues related to the region; been invited to comment on Latin America in the mainstream media; and organised and co-organised a number of events on some of the major topics affecting the region.

We feel there is much more that can be done, especially with regards to publishing original and though-provoking articles on the website and translating more content from Spanish to English, especially from Latin American writers. We would also like to redesign the site to make it more user-friendly and interactive.

However for this we need resources, and we’re asking you to consider making a donation so that we can move ahead with our plans.
